I've just had a shower, the shower itsself is nothing special except it's the only shower I had in the past 30 days. Not because I perfer to be stinky or because I was in the desert, the reason is I just had a baby and I had to 坐月子 (zuo4 yue4 zi) - literally it can be translated as "sit month", a kind of confinement, basically you are not supposed to do anything, including:
- the harshest one, no shower, of course no hair washing
- standing for long time, sitting more than 1 hour is also not suggested
- reading, watching tv, using computer, any activity that needs to use your eyes are belived to be harmful for eyes in the long-term
- drinking/ touch of cold water, actually no touch of anything cold
- lifting / holding/taking anything heavy, heavy here means weights more than 3 ponds. this means i can't hold my baby
- cutting nails, don't know why
- brush teeth, because the bursh is too rough for the gum
- exposure to wind, it will cause serious headache in the furture
- comb hair, the comb will hurt the skin of head lifelong
- .... 100 items i can't think of for now
if you are not careful enough and catch some desease, let's say "cold" goes into your arm , there is only one way to heal --- have another baby and keep warm for your arm during the period of "sit month".
